Affordability: A determination that the cost of buying and maintaining a product is reasonable. The extent to which a product is affordable as measured by its cost relative to the amount a purchaser or user is willing or able to pay.
Affordability is comprised of many trade-off decisions between requirements, design, producibility, reliability, and supportability.
